... to Grandmother's house we go! Hey, let's go hit Granny up for some blow!
Imagine my surprise at reading this in The Charlotte Observer this morning:
96-year-old accused of cocaine traffickingPosted by Mike at March 11, 2004 04:53 PM | TrackBackA 96-year-old Kings Mountain [Ed. about a half hour outside of Charlotte] woman was involved in a scheme where she traded crack cocaine for stolen property, said Cleveland County sheriff deputies.
Julia Roberts [Ed. No, not THAT Julia Roberts] was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver crack cocaine. Also accused was Harold Roberts, 61, who was arrested and charged with possession of stolen goods. Both live in the 100 block of Goforth Road.Police found stolen property at the home this week.
Two other Kings Mountain men were accused in the case: Donald Eugene Bridges, 56, of Antler Court, charged with possession of stolen property, and James Roberts, 58, of Goforth Road, charged with possession of non-tax paid alcohol.
Harold Roberts was being held on $1,000 bond at Cleveland County Detention Center Wednesday night.
If Ms. Roberts is functioning with a full deck so to speak, she'd have been a teen and young adult in the roaring 20's and during prohibition.
Cocaine wasn't illegal when she was a child and was used as an anaesthetic.
Assuming this was a deliberate choice to traffic on her part pot, heroin or most plant based drugs would be familiar to her.
LSD, meth, pcp, esctasy and designer drugs would be kind of weird, but if you think about it, in a few more years, early cusp boomers will be getting busted for pushing them.
